The Dillon Budget Spring Tester (BST) is a cost-effective precision tool, suitable for use in Production and Quality Control Departments. It tests springs in tension and compression and digitally displays load and deflection/length values.
Flexibility is a key attribute of the BST system. While the robust, manually-operated test stand is able to accommodate loads of up to 2201b ( 100 kg or 1000 N ), it also works effectively with higher sensitivity force gauges for testing delicate springs.
Features and benefits
Loadcell deflection compensation
With all strain gauge load cells, there will be some deflection
of the loadcell itself, typically 0.01 in (0.3mm) at rated
capacity. Compensation for such movement will occasionally be
necessary. Dillon can supply, with a particular system, a chart
to compensate for the total deflection of the stand and loadcell.
Systems interface
Dillon force gauges are fitted with interfaces to allow data to
be sent to chart recorders, statistical printers or personal
computers. Individual data values can, for example, be
transmitted to a computer with Microsoft Windows, and then a
spreadsheet program used to calculate spring rates.
With DataPlot software, a PC can behave as an XT chart recorder,
by regularly reading values from a force gauge, and plotting a
graph. Multiple applications The Budget Spring Tester is also
suitable for many compression or tension testing applications
using specimens other than springs, for example:
