Data Plot Software

DataPlot Windows-based software delivers the full potential of Dillon test systems consisting of Dillon test stands, fixtures and instruments.

The software enables a PC to communicate with Dillon digital force gauges, torque gauges and displays via the instruments' standard bi-directional RS-232 interface. The PC functions as a virtual chart recorder with the following features:

Auto-ranging Zooming / re-scaling Overlaying of test traces Printout of tabular data "Smart-linked" preference settings Start/stop triggers Data export to spreadsheets

DataPlot regularly requests data from Dillon force or torque gauges. During a test, the PC records force data at a rate of up to ten times per second. When the test has finished, operators can define a range of data by dragging two buttons, and, within that range, the software calculates average, maximum, minimum and area under the plotted curve.

The software lets operators define a conversion factor which allows plotting of force vs displacement or torque vs angle. Operators can re-scale and re-label graph axis and add graph titles. The software will save user-defined preferences for repeat testing; it will plot a series of similar tests on the same graph.

Operators can select to have data printed in tabular or graphical form. It can also be exported in ASCII format to other software packages including spreadsheet and SPC software.

DataPlot is flexible and easy to use. It operates from either the keyboard or a mouse. Each copy of DataPlot can be operated in up to three languages.

The software provides an extensive system of context-sensitive Help screens. In addition, each dialogue box is "aware" of settings in other boxes, and DataPlot will allow the operator to enter only preference settings which are in not conflict with other selections.
